A Turning Point

Many people are probably aware that their lifetime is finite, but that awareness is usually just a vague feeling. That's because every new day 24 hours are reloaded and experiencing this over and over again though the years may lull people into an illusion of immortality. But that illusion will be shattered when one faces a life-threatening event, where one is no longer so sure if he can live to see the sun next day.

It is at this moment of truth that one's sense of priority will be sharper than ever before. Under this influence of heightened awareness, it soon becomes clear what are the things that really matter to him. If he manage to survive the ordeal, he will probably spend his time and resources better than ever before.

Therefore it may be a fortune if one has the opportunity to face a potential death and yet manage to survive. This is my situation now. A simple health problem has spiralled out of control because an incompetent doctor had prescribed me the wrong medicine which aggravated my condition by a factor of 100 over a few days. I am not sure if things might take an exponential dive in the middle of the night.

If I survive this ordeal, I am going to make a few changes to how I live my life.
